    Default women's shelter donation

I have a lot of double household items from when my dh and I combined households (dishes, pots, towels, etc.) and also some toys. I especially want to target my donation to women and children who have left an abusive situation. I know that the shelter locations are secret, for the safety of the clients. Does anyone know how to get the items to them? TIA

In my area there is a thrift store that operates as a "front" for the house. They will usually take the stuff to them. You can also call the number and ask where they take their donations at. They usually have a place that is not near the "safe" house. I hope it helps. Good Luck.

I looked mine up the same way. It's also in a plain looking building with no signs and completely locked down. But if you're donating you won't have any problems. Here's what I took today...Thought the nail polish and makeup would be good. Help them look and feel pretty.

You could ask a local pastor. They are usually in touch with those organizations and could advise you on which ones are most in need.

The cosmetics are an excellent idea. I didn't think about that. I will add some to the mix. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Smile Women's Shelters

One of the methods you can do is contact your local police department and see if they have a group such as victims advocacy that will collect them for your tell you where to contact them at to donate it. Also for all of us with kids growing like wild fire you can ask if they accept small stuffed animals (washed)so they can give it to children on scenes of crimes or accidents.

Default donations to domestic violence shelters

All DV programs are administered somewhere. If you can't find the name of the organization in the Blue Pages of the phone book, you can call their hotline number, then they will give you the number of the main office.
If you are giving them clothing, food, and toiletries, you will be fabulously appreciated! If you are giving them new kitchen things (or gently used) they will appreciate that to some extent. The best way is to list the items you have to the program director, and that person will tell you which they do need. Different organizations work differently, and if they can't use the items they will be sure to suggest locations that will!
Thanks for thinking of Domestic Violence programs!
