Question 30% off in your email

Can someone please help me to understand this. My friend and I each got a 30% off email from CVS, which we loaded to our cards. But, the disclaimer is on NON-SALE items only.

Well, this morning we went to CVS and spent at least 1/2 hour scouring the aisles looking for anything that we could use this deal on.....long story short, we left frustrated and empty-handed.

You know this deal- they have it all the time. My question is, what can this deal be used on? Are we missing something? I rarely get anything at CVS that's not on sale!

I buy newspapers with mine. Also I plan on buying some Illy coffee drinks, they are priced at $2.37 at my CVS and I have some $1 coupons, final price= $0.66ea. Look for lower cost products which you have a coupon for, to price the cost down.
