Question

I have another question that I couldn't find an answer to.
Do ECBs count as coupons? What I mean is if I buy 5 items with a coupon each and I have a $ off/$$ coupon plus ECBs I will have more coupons than items. Is that okay or should I have more items as fillers?

Thanks for the post. it's a great idea for us newbies.

yes, they count as coupons. So they say. I have never had an issue w/ having more q's than items at CVS though. I think I've had to add a filler once. but the official word is 1 item per q

I was in my CVS store yesterday, taking advantage of the free stuff they advertised. The manager, that I've had a problem with before, stood behind the cashier watching me check out. I made several transactions stopping at a little over $15 three times and over $20 one time, using three $3/15 and one $4/20. He said I don't believe the system (I took that as philosophy behind ECBs) is designed to work like that. I asked what he meant. He said, "to fill your basket and make all these transactions using all those $ off amount CVS coupons." My basket covered the bottom w/items not at all full). I said that is not the way I understand it and that he is the only person I've had a problem with, that I use the other 2 stores in our town and have used the ones in other towns while visiting my daughter and have never had a problem, in fact, they help you reach the total you want. He said he was calling corp hqs. I said do it now, I'd like to know while I'm here. He called but told cashier, not me, that they were not working on Sun. The cashier a supervisor) just hung her head, she was really nice to me. He didn't stop me from finishing, but said he was calling them on Mon. I said, you do that. Also, there was no one behind me, I know to let other people go before me if there is a line. I avoid that store most of the time but it was the only one open early so I could go to before church. I don't like having to avoid the store, it's really close to my house. I'm going to call corp myself but just wondered what you think.

What a scrooge! Exactly what were you doing wrong? I would call CVS hqs. myself if I were you today and tell them about the way you were treated. If CVS didn't want you to use those Q's, why do they print? I believe that they will be on your side, and when you see that mgr again you can tell him that you made that phone call for him. And gave them his name for reference. There's no point in anyone being so rude when you are giving them money. (I've been up all night, so I guess maybe I'm grouchy?)

Nope, not grouchy atall. I agree completely. That manager was wayyy out of line. Jump on the phone w/ CS ASAP & file a formal complaint. Something like that needs to be on his permanent record. May even want to email/mail a copy as well.

Good grief! He treated you worse than a thief. Criminals are given more respect than you were. I can't believe he jumped right on the phone & called. If he has questions about their policy, he should keep his mouth shut & his thoughts to himself. Then head to his office - in private- and call corp for clarity on ECBs. Certainly NOT stand there treating you like that. That's just plain wrong.

Memory isn't to great nowadays. Did you post a problem w/ the same mgr awhile back? If so, I'd complain extra loud & definetly send complaints in writing. B/C obviously the man didn't get the pt. I don't think CVS wants customers to treated that poorly. And if CS can't help, go higher up. Repeated incidents is just not right. No doubt he's treating others poorly.

Done w/ my rant. I'm w/ you on this one. Let us know how things turn out.

Thank you Kristinbrianne and couponmama. I was beginning to second guess myself. I emailed CVS this morning. But you are right, I'm going to call too. Yes, I posted on him once before. He embarassed me in front of my grandchildren being so rude. I took them home and went back and told him what I thought of that in no uncertain terms. He said that was not his intension. I talked to CVS corp about that and she said he had no right to do what he did and she would pass it up and he would be talked to. I don't know if that happened or not. I'm still furious. Thanks for your support.

I just talked with CVS Customer Relations. She is going to forward to District Manager and he will get in touch with me within 2 business days. At least I'll know this time if they talked with the store mgr or not. I will post when I hear from DM.

Keep us posted! I'm glad you reported it to corporate. He had no right to treat you like that and it's the second time he's given you a problem. I wonder how rude he is to other people, too.
