Whenever I receive these % off coupons from CVS I use them for products that I need unexpectedly or that will make something cheaper that I have to buy anyways. For example, I had to pick up some epsom salts a few days ago to soak my foot in. I'd rather use ECBs and pay just tax then pay less for the product itself, but more OOP at a lower-priced store. I hope that makes sense. That is something I would've used it on. Also, I usually buy milk at CVS and use ECBs to pay rather than pay OOP; I have used this type of coupon on milk, but because milk is on sale this week (at least in my area; I know milk deals are regional), a % off coupon won't apply there. I have used these in the past on the cleaning cartridges for my husband's electric razor. I have never seen a coupon for those and don't expect I will, so that's a great use of this type of coupon for me.
Just try to think of something your family uses, but you can't get it on the cheap through sales and coupons. I know some folks think of these % off coupons as silly and useless, but not every family exclusively uses products that are uber cheap after coupons and store promotions at the drug stores. HTH
