help with cvs glade deal

ok i went to my closest cvs and i wanted to buy $30 of holders and refill candles but they didnt have enough. so i ended up with $17.50 towards the deal. i got back one ecb for $3, i went to the next cvs and got $12.50 more in glade holders and refill candles, but only got $3 in ecb??? i thought i would get total of $6 more? ( my oop was very low after Q's) so i left and called store manager he was no help and tryed to say i bought wrong stuff(which i know i didnt)and it didnt give me ebc cuz i used Q's. do i have to do it $10 in one trans to get $3 ecb???

Usually the bottom of your reciept will say something like $2.50 needed for your next reward or something like that if it all doesn't have to be in the same purchase. If it didn't say that I would assume that it does have to be in a single transaction.
