Default Guess it was a matter of time before...

I had to call corporate myself. I've read many posts on here regarding posters having to call corporate to resolve issues with their stores and although I've had times I've wanted to call and complain I just brushed off the issues because my local CVS is the ONLY one I have close by (next is 40min away)... and I travel to NY to work and will try and shop there instead. The last thing I wanted to do was annoy my store and not have a back up... but since I have other options (CVS in NY) I decided today to call. Long story short is the store manager and cashiers are MISERABLE, I've had many coupon issues in the past and it's always a BIG issue to fix anything, and I'm never right. I tell the cashier I have a raincheck and will do seperate transactions.
I first hand the cashier my raincheck for the energy drinks (4.99 get 4.99 ECB), she's making an issue about it because she doesn't have the flier and doesn't know how many times I can do it (stated on raincheck twice)... I tell her 2.... eventually she rings it up and mutters "hope I don't get into trouble for this". I'm a little uneasy now because I'm not understanding why this is an issue.
Next transaction is 2 purex (B1G1), 2 Revlon nailpolish, 1 colgate, 1 Pantene... I give her my coupons and she won't take my $1/1 coupon for the purex, she's telling me my secod item is free and it's not right... I try to explain to her B1G1 and that I've never had an issue before... I tell her to scan the coupon and the computer will take it... well she tries to call the manager and while doing so scans the coupon and the computer accepts it... now she's mad that she was wrong (I guess?). She then scans the Revlon coupons which beep... and she is now just muttering away about 'better not get into trouble' and such, I'm getting embarassed... after she clears the coupons she states "I can't wait until they get rid of all coupons... ALL coupons should be banned.... worthless.... " the line behind me is hearing all this and I am getting red from embarassement and anger. We finish this transaction and do my third... I don't think she ever realized how mad I was, my smile disappeared and I just set my jaw... waiting to just get out of there. I told the cashier at the end of the 3rd transaction that her comments were inappropriate, I am ethical when I coupon and know what I am doing, and that she'll be hearing from corporate because I'll be calling. To make me more angered she smiles and says "oh, ok"... ugh
I left the store and called corporate, not sure what will happen next... they took down her ID and said they would call their district person. I told them I felt like I was a crook or something and although she's entitled to her opinion she should keep them to herself... especially since CVS shows you in their fliers how to match coupons up to the sales... and CVS GIVES you coupons.
We'll see...and now they know who called and could possibly make my next trip in there misserable.

Sheesh, and with so many out of work, you'd think those WITH jobs would be doing the best job they could.

Sorry that this happened to you. We have all been in your shoes at one time or another. I have started paper clipping my rain checks to the particular sale flyer so I can have the ad right at my fingertips if any questions are asked. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 weeks for the shelves to be restocked and even I can't completely recall the deal I was trying to make. Just go back in to your store and kill them with kindness!

Sounds like the cashier may need to look for another job she is better suited for.

Glad to see you stood your ground & let her rain on your coupon parade.

Good luck with corporate. Hope they straighten out her attitude.

No update yet, I'm working in NY until Friday so my purchases this week will be in NY.... but next week they will be there so we'll see what happens. I live in a really remote country area, I personally don't see much happening but we'll see.... it was the principle really.

ugh some people are just so miserable i have to actually feel sorry for them!! i can wait i start working at cvs soon and i will start learning the register first so i just cant wait till people come in with all their coupons and getting their deals...of course ill report any good ones i see but mostly i cant wait to just be happy for them about their coupons and just make it nice for them...sounds so silly but maybe in a little way i can make up for some of the miserable cashiers out there like her!!! Also so true nowadays I do wonder when cashiers say things that are totally wrong to couponers dont they fear about losing their jobs?? i dont get it either really well keep us posted!!!

Wow!! Another unfortunate situation that didn't have to happen. Glad you called corp and please keep us updated on what happens. I don't understand how some cashiers get away with treating customers with such bad attitudes. She definitely needs another line of work. Is Customer Serivice not even stressed to these employees?
Jillynoodle: Again, so happy for you and can't wait to hear how you like it. We know you'll treat the customers the right way and will keep them coming back for more.

"I can't wait until they get rid of all coupons... ALL coupons should be banned.... worthless.... "

This statement here reminds me of an article I read on yahoo yesterday (i think, maybe the day before) about how to cut grocery bills by using coupons..and some of the responses were just crazy! One guy was adament that coupons were nothing but brainwashing by advertising companies and everyone who used coupons were frauds..something like that.I cannot believe how some people think about coupons...the night manager at my nearest HT is the same way, he will find any excuse for me (or anyone else) to not be able to use a coupon. Like he is afraid the savings I am getting is coming straight out of his paycheck...
