Default MOD NOTE: Internet coupons

Please refer to our rules section on internet coupons

* Also we have discussed this recently and have decided that PDF coupons are not going to be allowed to be posted anymore due to various problems associated with them including but not limited to fraudulent activity.

This is why the Madagascar DVD thread was just closed. A PDF coupon was posted in the thread. If you have any questions about the forum policies feel free to PM a moderator.

What is a PDF coupon? I am new and don't know what that means so I don't want to do it!

are these "illegal" to use? Just curious for future reference...if someone sends me a pdf file with a coupon in it, am I allowed to print out the coupon and use it?

That's the problem with PDFs. Some are legitimate - posted by companies on their websites - so those are OK. Some are not - someone scanned in a coupon and saved it as a PDF.

In some cases it is impossible to tell unless you yourself obtained the PDF from the company's website.

PDF are easy to validate. Just check out the company's website for which the coupon is coming from. If valid, it will appear on the site somewhere.

Most have it on the home page. Much ado about nothing...

I'm not so worried about it, for some reason my puter will only print q's from a site's homepage. All the links ya'll provide do not work for me. I've tried changing the wi's, wg's, all that stuff and no q's will print. So I just go to the homepage of the site, and if the q is there, I print. Works for me and no worries.

The odds are very good the answer to that is no. Some manufacturers do occasionally post coupons on their sites as PDFs. The problem is that they can be printed as many times as you want which inevitably leads to abuse. Usually coupons in that coupon do not stay up very long.

If it didn't come from the manufacturer or store website I would not use it.

Some people have been selling the links to PDF or the PDF itself on Ebay. PDF coupons are fraught with issues involving fraudulent activity and I just stay away from them because I want to maintain a good relationship with my vendors.
