Default I wish someone would have told me.....

I wish someone would have told me that printing coupons like a crazy woman at the start of each month often leads to a lot of wasted ink and paper. Only print what you know for sure you WILL use or trade.

What are some of the things you wished someone would have told you about couponing?

Well, I think I would have been reminded that a coupon deal is not always the best deal. Early on in my couponing I would buy things just because I had a coupon and there was an ad. Sometimes you still need to check and compare prices.

It is OK to pass up a sale. There WILL be another. Don't panic.

You don't have to use a coupon just because it is going to expire soon.

If you don't need 20, don't buy 20. It may not seem like it at first, but space is limited, no matter how big your house may be.

I wished someone would've enlightened me earlier that it's okay to state your point to the cashier and the manager. In the past I found myself embarrassed to speak up. Now I am a man on a mission! A polite mission that is of course!

I am always willing to trade. I often purchase multiple newspapers so I get numerous inserts.

I wish someone would have told me I didn't have to cut out ALL the coupons. It's ok to just cut out what you'll use and trade the rest.

I wish someone had told me that a sale can wait! I used to rush out almost every day to chase a lead.
Now that I have a stockpile I have become more relaxed.

I wish someone would have told me about this forum a whole lot sooner! I have learned so much from everyone! I learn better from people telling personal experiences than I do just reading information on the website!

I wish someone would have told me that fretting about getting to the store and doing the deal only defeats the purpose of what this is all about. I would strategize all day long waiting for a chance to go and get myself into a sweaty mess. We do this to give us peace of mind......not stress! No need to do every deal and drive to 7 targets to find that one "shot in heck" deal.

And, keep your eye on your stockpile. Rotate products and watch expiration dates. Had to toss 3 cake mixes a few weeks back and it still haunts me.....
    My ISO list:

    Smart Balance milk
    Uncrustables
    $1/1 Tide
Zone Perfect $.55/1 to $1/1 off single bars or boxes
    Mrs. Meyers $1/1 products
    Fage Yogurt
    Ronzoni Smart Pasta
    Ragu Spaghetti Sauce
    $1/1 Always
    Skippy Peanut Butter

    Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)
No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
