Too funny mnm'z!! You told him, who does he think he is anyway?! The people who don't cpn(don't save money) don't know what we have put into it and what we really save, and they never will. Maybe because they think it's beneath them or something. And they all say the same thing, that people who cpn don't eat anything but junk food!
One day when I was at Publix (this hardly ever happens to me thank goodness) checking out, this lady gets in line behind me and starts loading her stuff up on the belt/counter, well the cashier was almost done ringing my stuff up and moving on to my coupons. She noticed and said to the person behind her (as she is taking all her stuff back off the belt and putting it back in her cart) "she has Coupons". And leaves the lane for another one. Well, I tell you what the lady who was bagging my groceries bout had a fit on her! She was like who does she think she is? Maybe she doens't want to save money but it doesn't mean others don't, I save money were I can too, there is nothing wrong with that. I told her "isn't it funny how this happened, cause I didn't ask her to stop me in the middle of the produce and for her to tell me about her awesome experience with the oranges she bought here, that were sooo good she has to get more." And the bagger said your kidding? I said nope! She loves the oranges here, but I can't take a few minutes at the register to save some money, that would make me real happy! By the way the lady that was behind her in line just moved out of her way and let her go, and got back in line and started putting her stuff on the belt. I have to say her deciding to stay in line made me feel a touch better though!
It doesn't usually take a long time to scan the cpns or even if they have to manually put some in, the experienced cashiers know what they are doing and it goes pretty fast. Just because those folks that don't cpn don't know how to do it, they make ugly remarks to make themselves feel better! Maybe they feel embarassed using cpns cause people might think they can't afford to buy what the need or want without them.

I have a new way that I pass time waiting for one of my coupon classes to start. I ask the people who are there to say whatever pops in their head when I say the word "couponer".
I have heard both positive and negative responses! Some are below:
Negatives:
Poor
Obsessive
Hoarders
Time Consuming
Shelf Clearers
unhealthy eaters/ FAT (umm wtf.. just because I am fat doesnt mean its my coupons fault!!!!)
Positive:
Frugal
Smart Shoppers
Prepared
Lots of yummy stuff (7-8 year old boy LOL)
save alot of money
Why do I share this? Because every time we step in a store this is the kind of response people looking at us has. The sad thing is that this is coming from people who come to my classes to learn HOW!!!! People put such roadblocks to their own success. I do not understand why ANYONE would want to pay full price if they have a way to save. Its like telling a used car dealer.. no no let me pay FULL price for that... instead of haggling him down!
Oh my goodness!! I think more people are getting use to it for the most part, cause I don't get at walmart anymore the greeter asking me if I need to return the binder. LOL! Yes they have asked me that before, and when I say no it's not a return it's my coupons, they used to get surprised, but never said a negative about it. I think it's a great way to start your class!! The negative about unhealthy eaters/fat and your comment is way too funny!! I maybe be on the short side but I'm most definately not petite, and you are so right it is not the cpns fault! LOL!
I think it's things they have heard alot of about cpupons and couponers that triggers what they say, and depending on who the listen to or read about it, that is the response you will get. Love the little boy saying "lots of yummy stuff". Too cute! How did he do in the class? Did he pay attention in class? LOL!

When he found out he could get free gum.. he was seriously onboard. He told his mom he would help cut coupons if he could have the free candy ones as payment LOL.
I have suggested to several grocery chains in our area that they have a designated coupon checkout line so the non-couponers don't have a hissy fit! Unfortunately it has fallen on deaf ears to the store managers. I've gotten to the point where I kindly say to the person behind me that I have some coupons just to give them a heads up. And I no longer feel guilty or embarrassed since they are not paying my bill !

I would rather be in line behind a couponer than someone with an overflowing grocery cart. That person will take a lot longer than I do to check out!
