    I find that salad bars where you pay-by-the-pound are so over-priced. They are $7.95 a pound at my grocery store. I see people putting saltines and things like that in the container. Much cheaper to buy a bag of salad and a package of crackers that will last you a few days.

    I've read articles where bag salad is overpriced too. (unless you're getting it dirt cheap or free with coupons) A better deal is a head of lettuce and make your own salad.

    I LOVE the salad bars! I usually only get toppings- and only the items I don't keep on hand at that. It's much cheaper for me to go get a little spoonful of green pepper, mushrooms, bacon, red onion etc. than to buy whole veggies and having them most likely go to waste. And the convenience is nice as I can just throw everything on top of lettuce I already have. I usually don't pay more than $2-$2.50 for my container and that's good for about 2 salads. But then again, our salad bar is only $4.99/lb.
