Ever since I was a kid, I was always mindful of other people's trash and I often pick up stray papers floating around a parking lot and toss it in the trash. (It's an Oregon thing...) Lately, I've been quite lucky.
Three weeks ago I picked up a "receipt" in the parking lot at Walgreens with intentions of tossing it in the trash on the way into the store. Looked at it... and it was a $4 RR. That same week I picked up a "receipt" in Albertsons parking lot... it was a $2 toward your next purchase cat. Rather road worn... but it worked just fine on the days purchases. Yesterday when getting my cart at Albertsons... I saw a receipt on the floor... picked it up, it was $6 off a purchase of $80 or more!! Woot! Since I had planned to buy quite a bit of meat... I was pretty stoked. It just makes me mindful of small rewards for good deeds. So keep your eyes out for those paper pennies!!

Done that, too, myself at Walgreen's and it was for a coupon that I did use!
BTW, I absolutely love Oregon! My DH has never been, but I would move there in a heartbeat! SO beautiful; mountains, CLEAN AIR and NO TRASH! (I don't get the trash thing myself either!) |

I shop at Ralphs and Vons in Los Angeles. I have found the catalina coupons in the parking lot. Last week, there was one for a large box of Milk Bone dog biscuits for free (up to $4.99). My friend just got a dog so I gave him these along with 5 cartons of the Fresh Pet dog food (free coupons in the paper a few weeks ago).
At the self-service check-outs at my stores, so many people leave the catalina coupons right on the machines without even looking at them. There have been many free items of dollar(s) off your next purchase. I cannot believe people do not even look at them! |

First, good for you for cleaning up after other people! Think of it as a little thank you from mother nature.
![]() I often find good cats hanging off the self checkouts. How I wish they would just let me go through the little trash can placed by them to fish out good q's. I just picked up some "trash" the other day in front of my local grocery store. It was a book full of q's for that store. They are man q's so no stacking but I can use some of my q's on the buy x get y free q's.

yes, one of the biggest things for me to get used to here in Idaho is that they don't have a bottle/can deposit/refund program. People throw their pop cans and bottles in the trash or worse... along the roads ![]() I miss Oregon something aweful. The people are friendly and helpful and are always up for a good joke. Idaho? not so much. I'm glad that others are finding paper pennies too... every little bit helps.

My kids call me the "cart hound" because when I'm on the way in or out of a store I'm always scanning the empty carts. I've gotten tons of money from cats left in the baskets. I mean TONS. Meijer for a while was printing these $5 off a $25 gift card cats. Um, let me think, if I saw a $5 bill on the gorund I would pick it up, right? Well a $5 off a $25 cat is the same thing. You buy a $25 GC for $20 on your way in and spend it on the way out. How hard is that? It takes what 2 minutes for a transaction, if? I've never had a job that paid me $5 every 2 minutes.

A lady next to me had a large bakset of groceries at the self-service check-out lines in Pavilions yesterday. She said she forgot her Club Card and asked if she could use mine. Of course, I said. This helped her save about $15.00. I didn't pay attention to what she bought but she gave me her Catalina coupons that printed to thank me for using the club card.
Included were coupons for $1.00 off your next purchase, 1 free sandwich at the deli, 1 free Clif power barand $1.00 off any Lean Cuisine entree. As I was walking to my car, there was one in the parking lot for a free Gelato. SCORE!!! |

We have a Kroger that gives a $5 off your next order coupon (no min purchase) when you spend $50. So far I have found two. One in a shopping cart in the parking lot and one in the trash in the YMCA locker room. I used both.
Plus drug a Aldi's shopping cart with a locked wheel (security device) 100 yards across the parking lot just to get the 25¢ deposit back
