Yeah, I *think* the surcharge is because they must hand process any envelopes that are too thick. If it doesn't fit through a certain sized slot, they charge you more.

Agreed?

I do agree with Mouse. At the time you get the envelope some of the cpns are expired.

I usually go to the post office to double check and all my trains cpns go to the post office as they are always very heavy!

Default bummer that happened

I believe ya! But, every time (I think anyway) I have sent an envi that was short on postage (usually a train) I have received back to ADD the postage.

I was weighing them at work and when this thickness issue started to come up. I just decided it was time to MAKE time and take it to the P.O. since it wasnt fair to hold up the train for the other riders.

My post office has this little thing that they stick an envelope (standard or business size) in to see how thick it is and they told me that if it was thicker than that I had to use a bigger envelope (IE small manilla envelope).

My trouble is with things getting destroyed more so than the postage. One envelpe that I send to Florida about once a month with about 100 coupons in was arriving torn up EVERY time. I finally started paying the extra to put it in a manilla envelope because the lost coupons are worth WAY more than the extra postage.
