    Default Search Function is too specific

    I think that the Search Function used to be easier to use than it is now.

    For example, I was trying to look up "Bear's April Spending" to find that thread match and it did not locate the thread I wanted, which is entitled "Bears April Spending" without that one apostrophe. Really annoying. It is just too specific.

    Other times I have started my preview threads with a date of something like "Coupon Insert Preview 5/06/2012" for example, and it won't locate that thread if you search type in " Coupon Insert Preview 5/6/12".

    I always have problems searching as well. That is why I dropped the apostrophe from Bear's to Bears. I really do know the difference, I just never could find it in a search using Bear's. I rarely, if ever type and apostrophe now. Sometimes I will search Java and find old ones, but not the current week.

    I have to agree, I don't use the search function for those exact reasons. I have tried to search for preview threads and for info on deals, and I never seem to come up with anything. My searches are just to general I guess.

    OMG... I thought I was the only one who had trouble. I can rarely find anything on this site and someone like Curtis can whip up the 'exact' thread I'm looking for. Maybe we need to have 'classes' on how to use the search function, LOL!

    One of the problems is that the search function defaults to posts "today and newer" or at least in the Advanced Search function. If you do not catch that you will almost always get no posts found.

    I believe it also is specific to where you are in the forums......meaning if you search now while in this thread other things don't show up.....same with the sub forums.
    You get more results if you search while not inside any specific area.
