would love for the lists to be downloadable into excel
would love for the lists to be downloadable into excel
That is an awesome suggestion... I just kicked myself and asked "why didn't I think of such a fantastatic solution to many of my time consuming problems"???... I hope someone with some power reads your suggestion and implements. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I could be wrong, I'm pretty sure the coupon database works this way. You should be able to copy and paste it into an excel program. We've had several members do this in the past. It came up with one of the updates that it didn't work any more. Then we were able to get it fixed. I'm not sure about the lists as I only recall members copying the coupon database.

I download the db to "Numbers", which is Apples version of Excel. It takes a few steps, but I am pretty fast at it now. There may be other ways, but here is one way. Please note, I am using an apple computer that has MS Office and I-Works.
1. Copy/paste the highlighted entries from the db to MS Word.
2. Click "save as" and change the extension from .doc to .txt (this saves it as a text file)
3. Drag the txt file to the Numbers icon and it automatically loads into a spreadsheet.
It has been a long time since I have used a Windows based computer, but you probably could get it in Excel, too. The key is to get the data in a .txt file. These .txt files can also be transferred to smart phones which enables you to look up a coupon in the db in the store w/o the Internet. HTH
LITSA, if the tech folks could put an option on the screen that said something like "download to txt file", that would enable the end user to just click it and get prompted to save as...., it would make things easier.
I have not tried this with lists, but I am sure it can be loaded in a spreadsheet as well. Great way to keep a price book!
By the way, I have seen a lot of other sites and I believe couponmom's db and lists are the best for data tracking.![]()
Thanks, I will give this a try.
I just copied and pasted a list onto an Excel spreadsheet. To me it was just as easy as any "link" that would convert to a spreadsheet. hth
I copy and paste to Excel also... For decent formatting I use paste special then select unicode. I format further by expanding the row width and wrapping text.
when i copy+ paste into excel...its does not work...what am i doing wrong?
I am not sure what you are doing. I would not paste with a right click... go up to edit and select paste special-- a dialogue box will appear and you will have three choices.. select the second choice: Unicode text... that choice will push all the data to individual cells (columns), not just one. From there you will want to change the format of the "coupon name" by right clicking select 'format cells", and then selecting alignment; in the middle of the box will be text control.. select wrap. If you need room increase the row height.
shoot that worked better than teh other way, but they still didnt go into own individual columns! thats so mch for your response though, becuase it does look better
