The truth is the truth. The information is not valuable if it is wrong… even if it is free. It becomes more of a waste of time. I realize many are clearly passionate about this site but deal with the truth without being offended.

Just this morning I again cross checked the results (Food Lion). On all six items I selected…every single one was wrong…some close, some way off. It’s a fact. You can get all indignant with me if you want…but the information is still wrong.

Many web sites are free and I know I can choose to not use this one. I find it astounding that people would simply make excuses for the site rather than simply admit that there is consistently incorrect information on it.

I started this thread to hopefully add to the improvements and bring attention to inaccuracies I notice…that maybe the site would care…that maybe anyone else would care. You can obtain the sales flyers electronically through the Internet…it’s not like they have to drive to each location to get one every week. The prices don’t change across Virginia as much as the results are wrong here. Maybe that means they have no one actually covering the state of Virginia regarding Food Lion.

If you are going to advertise something such as this site does, you should try to deliver what you promise or explain why you cant. That’s all I’m trying to say.

This has become self-explaining however. Clearly the site does not have the resources or desire to be thorough. Perhaps they are trying to do too much.
This site operates solely off advertising revenue, allowing it to be free for all members. That being said, they do have a small staff. Even if they were to use the online flyers...to do price match-ups for every single store & state that they list would take a tremendous amount of time. Sure, they may be able to accomplish it, but with the extra staff they would have to hire, the site would probably not be able to remain free. I'd rather have a free site with some discrepancies than a paid site without any. If you use the match-ups as a guide, like others have suggested, or if you just begin getting coupons each week and being aware of what you have, eventually you will know what coupons are out there, if a sale is good or not, and you will be able to know this by just glancing at a store's weekly ad. In the meantime, the drugstore lists are most likely to be accurate as there usually aren't too many regional differences in sales or pricing. The drugstores alone is where I score all of my health & beauty items, medicine, etc. for free...definitely a great place to start your stockpile. I think that if you stick with this site you'll find that this forum is incredibly valuable for discovering hidden deals, trading with other members in different regions that receive different coupons, asking questions & receiving a quick response, etc. Either way, good luck with your couponing!

Oh, & another thing - I saw you mention that Wal-Mart refuses to match BOGO sales. That's actually not true. I have price matched BOGO sales plenty of times there, they just require that the ad specify the price, such as Buy one at $2.69, Get one free. Hope this helps!

Unless I dreamed this, there was a job posting the other day on this site for more people to do the store pricing and matchup research so looks like they are trying to address this particular issue.

Thanks for the feedback. I wonder what circular they use for Food Lion in VA because it is ALWAYS Lowballed on the pricing...every week. Just for one instance this week the site says the BOGO on Kraft cheeses makes the each price $1.75 when it is actually $2.50 clearly shown in the circular I recieve. I don’t live in a very expensive area, so I don’t get it.

They are very close if not exact on every other store I shop at...it's baffling.

My aggravation earlier was more that folks kind of jumped on the defending the site bandwagon rather than simply admitting the site has a lot of flawed information for many people using it. I wasn’t looking for excused as to why this is the case. I posted originally in the hopes that by my mentioning the inaccuracies I discovered that there could be some improvement on the site as a result.

Instead folks got sort of defensive and the site itself never bothered to jump in and comment. I was simply hoping to help bring about improvement, not insult the site or it’s loyal fans.

My use of the site is certainly better than not using it at all and the point I take away form many comments here is “deal with it and feel fortunate you have what the site does offer”.

The issue is, I use the site to compare prices on items from different stores. If the information is correct on some and not correct with others and I have to examine the circular to know for sure, then a great part of the purpose of the site is diminished and time I thought saved is not as saved as I thought.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a cheap price!

Kenny, In all honesty I do understand your points. It can be very frustrating for myself also, I shop Meijer and the list on Couponmom shows Meijer stores using double coupons and my store doesn't double q's... so my listings are never accurate either, however, I feel if it's a great deal in Indiana it'll be a great deal here too. I won't get the same pricing or deals they do, so I do take what I can get. The pricing is also different, in Indiana the ground beef might be on sale for $1.89 and it's on sale for $2.29 here... My earlier point was only that it'd be impossible to have every flier for every store, because even the flier's are regional... I can run to a different Meijer right here in town and the pricing can be different.

So, yes, I do deal with it and feel fortunate I have what the site offer's... I could be doing this 100% by myself with no help at all. With the help this site does offer I can still save 40 - 70% on my grocery bill which is what I was looking for... My homework from this site includes some of my own investigating...

I'm sure that none of us were directly flaming you for pointing out what is the obvious... but I do know that I felt you were attacking this site without understanding what we were trying to say... anyway, IMO it's all over and I hope you can take away from Couponmom what we've all received. Deals, a stockpile and great friends.
