I would like to see more posts per page on each thread.
As this forum is set up currently, only 5 reply posts show up per page when you click on a thread. It is very time consuming for those of us on dial up because we have to wait for pages 2 and 3 to load. What happens is that instead of a quick research of this week's CVS deals that would last a few minutes, it turns into a long venture. It becomes quite annoying after a while waiting for page 2 to load, when other forums have all the info on one page. For example, someone posts a CVS success story and their scenario. Four people jump on with posts like "Great job!!!!" and "Where did you get a $5/$30 Q?" Well, the answer is buried somewhere on page 3, but only because you limit the number of replies per page. So, we click on page 2 hoping to see the answer, just to find another 5 posts saying "WTG!!!", "Excellent!" and "They were out of the purple Tide at my store." After clicking on page 3, and waiting an eternity for it to load, you finally find the answer. Of course, you might dismiss this idea that I have offered. I know that I would post more in the threads...but sometimes I get tired of the waiting game before I even come to couponmom.com. I know I would visit the site even more, but when I just have a few minutes, I usually decide not even to mess with the site until I can have at least 30 minutes to peruse the threads I am interesting in reading. If you decided to fix this problem, I think I would be much, much more apt to visit CM on a daily basis, and probably several times a day. I don't have the same problem with other forum sites using the same software. I can quickly jump on, read the new topics, scan all the threads, read 20 replies on the same page, and be able to think about how I want to reply later after I jump off. I have over 3500 posts on another non-coupon v-bulletin website, but only 9 or 10 here. The above problem is the reason why. Thanks!!! Keep up the good work. |

Click User Profile (upper left)
Click Edit Options (left side) What's the value in the "Number of posts to show per page" dialog? (near the bottom somewhere) I've got mine set to 40, and I see up to 40 replies per page. "5" is an option, so I'm wondering if yours got set that way somewhere along the line?

Oh PDX this will make Clovis happy, nice find and nice of you to explain in detail how to change it. I can hear her/his frustration and can understand that frustration especially if using dial up. Good info for others to know as well in case they want to change their view.
** One trick I just learned, under the last post column, if you click on the arrow next to the 'last posters screen name', it will take you to the very last post. I realize this is not related to your suggestion but a trick I just learned none the less ![]() Have a great day - Mouse

Probably the mode "linear-newest first" would work best for a dial up. I'm not using a dial up but I just changed mine because I think I'm going to find this view a lot more convenient.

Thanks so much for the info!!!!!!
I kinda feel dumb for asking, but glad I did. It is much easier now to quickly jump on and off CM. FWIW, high speed internet is expensive here, but not 10 miles north of us. Good old Embarq (Sprint) has a monopoly on our area, which is allowed by our regulatory commission because we were a 'rural' area in the 1950's. This area has grown, but their monopoly hasn't changed!!!! Thanks!!!!! |

clovis- have you looked into embarq dsl? im looking at their site, cant even find their dial up offerings, what are you paying now?
our at&t dsl here at work is $21.99/ month, had to fight for that price. i see embarq wants $29.95 for the same service, which is high imo, unless you bundle with phone service. the bundled price is good |

A single business line is about $60 or so. I know a guy in Indy, just 22 miles away that has 12 lines for $5 each!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I owed a small business and wanted a seperate phone, dial up and fax, those 3 lines would have cost $180, plus taxes. FWIW, there were some inovative guys that bought a computer router phone thing-a-ma-jig that would allow people to call from Indy and our town to another town, thus saving the caller long distance charges...and Embarq sued them. Those two guys folded up shop, and left town. Can anyone imagine that I hate Sprint/Embarq because of their rates??? |
