Maybe you have this feature somewhere and I just haven't found it, but a sewing forum I frequent has a button for "replies on my topic." It's really handy to see whether there have been any responses to questions/comments you post.

When you post before you hit submit scroll down a little bit. There is a place where you can subscribe to that thread. Hit subscribe and choose how you want to be notified.
