    Default What? No Free Turkey?

I am fortunate to receive a Bi-lo ad 4 days in advance of the next sale occurring. Historically this time of year, Bi-lo has their turkey points promotion for Thanksgiving where you spend the required purchase, get turkey points and redeem these for a free turkey for Thanksgiving. When I received my ad this morning, they are running frozen turkeys next week for .69 cents a lb, (w/ an additional $25 purchase)and in the fine print says they will match any competitors price on a grade A frozen turkey.

Then there was a disclaimer that says this excludes Butterball and Fresh Turkeys and to see cashier details.

HTH someone with your holiday planning.

Hmm, we don't have Bi-Lo stores here but Food Lion does something similar. I hate to hijack your thread but this reminds me that I need to start looking for good prices on frozen birds! Does anyone have a general idea what a good price is per lb.? In the past I've paid around .79/lb. I need a nice big bird, around 22-25 lbs. Any tips???

I have never been able to spend enough money to get the free holiday hams and turkeys. The best I can hope for is a deep discount on the per pound price. Food Lion has one going on right now, shop 6 of 8 weeks and spend $45 each visit and they will give you a $20 oyno. I can guarantee I won't spend a minimum of 270 at food lion in the next 4 weeks (which is all that is left until thanksgiving!). I actually have a hard time getting to the $45 at food lion lol.

The thing bi-lo is doing is better IMO. I can get to $25 there, and get a 20 pound bird for 13 bucks. You would have to get a 30 pound bird to be even with the 20 dollar cat food lion would give you, but, would a 30 pound bird fit in the oven, do they even grow that big naturally? Seems easier to me to get it at a cheap per pound. I got totally way off topic here, but thats ok.

Actually crazycereal, you would be surprised to know that I am completely in agreement with you!! It is more cost effective to buy turkeys at a rock bottom price per lb. I posted the free turkey change simply as a FYI for those who do participate in that.

I agree too! What is the best price per lb. that anyone has ever gotten a Thanksgiving turkey? I think last year I did between .69 and .79 per lb. I have to find a big old bird..22-23 lbs.
