    Default Hi...new to site

    Hi,

I am new to couponmom.com. I am learning so much from reading the threads.

Here are my hopes by couponing. Our grocery bill went up significantly when for health reasons, I needed to follow a Vegan diet. Then we learned that my husband needs to eat a Gluten Free diet. Fortunately, there is a lot of combining I can do with these two diets as I can eat the GF food also. However, finding coupons for GF products will, I feel, be a challenge. Any help with that is appreciated.

I am planning on writing to the GF companies we like to hopefully get help there. Whole Foods will occasionally have good GF sales with good GF coupons in their flyer, but it's hard to stock up with that flyer as our only resource for coupons. Plus, they don't always match.

I prefer Morning Star over Boca for my meatless options, although I will use Boca when it is a better sale.

    Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum. I have saved substantially on our family grocery expense using this forum and coupons.

Welcome to the forum. I too am GF and while I don't buy a lot of processed GF stuff, you can find coupons for Udis and Rudis fairly often on their sites. I wrote to Pamela's and received some great coupons including a few frees. I feel your pain because it is very expensive. Fortunately I am the only one with a diet restriction and I don't eat much. Where ever possible, I adapt only a portion of a recipe to GF and the rest is made as normal. (It can be a PITA) It does break my heart to have to pay 15.00 for 3 lbs of flour though. I don't have any insight into the vegan aspect of your problem. I think Desert Debbie can help you with that. Just remember that you can save a lot in other areas such as H&B and household products and that takes the sting out. I don't always save a lot on actual food but my weekly spending has been cut by more than half.

Hi there, Vegan is my mom's way of life and yes it can be a real PITA to find coupons for. I am surprised you are eating morning star as most of their products are NOT vegan, though they are vegetarian! Morningstar puts out ALOT of coupons btw, so you should find them with no drama. Another fave of my mom's is Annie Chuns noodle bowls. If you "like" them on FB and go to their website you can often score coupons via email. As for other products, let me give you some insight on how you can save even without coupons.

First off, shop for what is IN SEASON veggie-wise, and plan meals to compliment seasonal produce. That way you are buying fresh produce that is alot less expensive. You can often take advantage of farmers markets towards the END of the day to score great deals on what they have left, though these will be well picked over compared to full price but full selection in the morning =D

Try outlets for breads and the like. Oroweat outlets are a great way to score healthy and wholesome products for about half of what you would pay in the store.

Tofu coupons are readily available too, and you can often get IP's on them (internet printables).

Do not be sucked into the "whole foods" trap! AVOID OVERPAYING!!!!!! Look online at the products you like and check to see who else in town might carry them. I bet you will be surprised at what a great selection you can get at your local grocery store! My mom uses Smiths in N Las vegas, and WALMART for many of the products she likes.

Speaking of websites, writing or emailing manufacturers is a great way to score specific nutritional need product coupons. What I would do is write to them a letter something like this:

    Dear (company name here),

Our grocery bill went up significantly when for health reasons, I needed to follow a Vegan diet. Then we learned that my husband needs to eat a Gluten Free diet. Fortunately, there is a lot of combining I can do with these two diets as I can eat the GF food also. However, finding foods we both can eat has really put a hole in our pockets, especially with the economy the way it is! Would you have any coupons available for your products? We sure could use some help making ends meet, and we both have come to love your (insert product name here). My husband likes HIS (served this way) but I prefer MINE (served this way).

Thank you in advance! (your name here)

The more specific you are about the product line, and the more backstory you have the more likely they are to respond with coupons.. or even product!
