Default New to couponing and a bit overwhelmed

Hi all, so glad I found this site. I'ma very new to couponing and fear that I dont have the smarts or time for this. Ofcourse I would love to save some money but dont quite know where to begin. Some of this coupon speak sounds confusing. I started researching coupon websites and was a little discouraged buy all the surveys and the fact that all those sites have a lot of the same coupons. Looking forward to getting to know more about this couponing thing!

Welcome!! I totally understand how this can be totally overwhelming, but the good news is that you aren't the first "newbie" so many before you have asked questions and all those answers are here! Just take some time and read...and then read more. Get a hold of the CouponMom book -- buy or at the library -- lots of little tidbits in there and things to think about. When you are ready, just start off slow -- don't expect a major savings right away and don't expect to build this huge stockpile overnight. It takes time and patience, but over time, it all comes together...and before you know it, you will be helping out a "newbie."

    Again, welcome!!!

I do my couponing while watching TV, so except for the time on the computer, it is time I would normally be wasting anyway. Really all you need is Couponmom.com and this forum to start, later on you could do some rebates, manufacturer website printable coupons, etc. Couponmom.com matches up the weekly deals to the coupons that are available from the newspapers and safe printables.
    ISO list:
    Shedd's Spread Country Crock
    Folgers Coffee
    Mighty Dog food
    Loreal Excellence hair color
Nature Made vitamins codes (on the bottles). TY!

The hardest part is behind you. You found couponmom! As a new couponer I suggest you start small. Pick ONE item a week that you think is a super good price and check with us here first to see if WE agree. If it is, then have that item be your stock up item. It could be a couponless item, like.. chicken breasts for under $1.67lb (thats MY stock up price) or maybe deodorant for $0.25 or less with coupon!

Other than that try to buy items that are real food items which can be combined to make a meal, but that are on sale. I try to shoot for an overall savings off the retail price of 50% with coupon, 40% without. You will not see that kind of savings right away, so be patient and take it one week at a time. I believe Publix is in your area? If so, its my understanding that they are a great place to shop and very couponer friendly. Wish I had them out here!
