When you buy certain items that have CVS Extracare bucks rewards, the rewards print at the bottom of your receipt when you buy the item. Then you use them just like cash on your next purchase. You have to have an Extra care card, which you can sign up for at the store, and give it to the cashier every time you purchase something. For example: One of the deals right now is for Swiffer products. If you buy $10 worth of swiffer products, then you get $5 extracare bucks back, printed at the bottom of your receipt, and you can use them on your next purchase for whatever you want! (there are a few exceptions, such as lottery, pre-paid phone cards and a couple more-that is printed on the receipt too.) Also, you can use your extracare bucks to buy products which will give you MORE extracare bucks, like you could use your $5 from the swiffer deal to buy 2 ColgaTE max fresh toothpastes, which are $2.99 each, so you would pay with $5 in Extracare bucks and 98 cents cash, but you would get $4 more in extracare bucks to spend! I hope this helps you.
