I'm relatively new to this, and trying to take it seriously (if I can ever get my coupons to print) Since I got laid off from my job in February, I had to take some major steps towards frugality. (I have since gone into business for myself and so far the layoff was a blessing in disguise.)
I still don't understand the ins-and outs of the supersavers and I know that takes time. By the way, I am a man, husband, father of 3 children. I do the majority of the grocery shopping, mainly because I enjoy it and my wife is led a little more by temptations when she shops.
Anyway, I still only manage to save 26-28% at best. I do look for deals, and have always defaulted to my Kroger store here as they seem to be cheapes on most things in competition with Meijer and Wal-Mart, but I think I will need to start making the rounds and spreading things out to get it to really work. Kroger only doubles anything .50 and under. I think Meijers does the same. I also think its why a lot of coupons have now gone to .55.
Also, I see where people tell me to use 2 or 3 coupons for the same thing, when 99% of the coupons out there say "LIMIT: One Coupon per Item" how do you all make that work for you. where is the best place to find coupons that have no limits?
And just a little gripe, but as expenisve as Tide Laundry detergent is why can't I ever find a coupn for more than .25 or .35 cents off? They cost twice as much, It's my families detergent of choice, I grew up on it and it's been the best for us after trying others, they cost twice as much or more than most other detergents, but can only put out tiny little coupon savings. Why can they only put out .25 or .35 cent savings when I can get a $1.00 off of a 3.00 box of Granola Bars?
