i keep trying to download the ebooks but when they are downloaded all i see is code or squares. what am i doing wrong??

I believe it's probably downloading in the wrong program.

i'm sorry but i don't really know what that means. what am i doing wrong? i click on download and then my screen says if i want to open cancel or save. i tried it both ways and all i get are squares and code. what kind of program do i use? does it give a chance to let you choose what program to use to download?
