Smile Depends

It really depends on where you shop me personally I am not a big fan of walmart because there rules for Interenet coupons changes with the wind and the do not double coupons. Also if you find the item for lower they won't let you use the coupon as well.

Just a deal breaker for me.

I still go there when I find out about something that is lower than other stores. But that is really rare now that I have learned how this works.

I go to publix and Kroger because they double there coupons.

I went from spending 100 for just me and my daughter to about 20 bucks a week!!!

I love it.

Cowlady, I thought Wal-Mart "seemed" cheaper too, until I actually started taking a very close look at prices and comparing. I was surprised at how often I could get things for less at Kroger or Publix, even before Qs. I had really expected Wal-Mart to be cheaper on everything, but that was not the case. There are some things at Wal-Mart that tend to stay at a lower price than at my other stores, but not that many.

As for how much you are saving with Qs, I don't know the specifics of your situation, but most people find they save more over time, whether that is because of Qs, or learning more about strategy, or some of each. I am saving a good bit more now than I was just a few months ago, and I am still learning.

I also use to shop at walmart.. The reason I dont anymore is becuase i save so much more by shopping at frys which doubles..

After a few weeks you will have enough coupons that eventually everything you buy will be with a q..

I also had to stop being so strict on brands..I buy a lot of stuff I use to but also a lot of stuff I never use to. That is not to be a bad thing. It has been quite fun to try new products !

It does not happen overnight. It is kinda like weight loss. We want to see imediate results and it just does not happen that fast. I started at saving 40% and it went up from there..

Take your time to read the e-books. (They're small). In the beginning.....focus on a couple of really good coupons/deals until you get comfortable with using the CouponMom system.

The biggest successes come from being able to go to stores that have BOGO sales, and you have coupons that double!!

Not only is this possible, but I do this all of the time!! My BEST grocery deal EVER was when I once got $28 worth of groceries for .01 + tax.

CowLady,

I can relate - I have a hungry husband, twin pre-teen sons who can eat a banquet hall out, and of course my new DS who is on an expensive formula. Then there is me - who likes to eat too! lol

I use to spend upward of $150 - $200 per week on groceries and was so surprised each weekend when the cupboards and fridge were bare again. I used to shoot for a 10% savings each week - and I thought that was good! It never occurred to me I could save 50% or more.

The key is to stockpile when the items are at their absolute lowest prices. Pay attention to your ads and compare from store to store. What may be $1 at one store may be $1.20 at another. But if the $1 store doesn't double Q's and the $1.20 store does, a $.50 Q will do you better at the seemingly 'expensive' store because you will pay $.20 instea of $.50 per item. If this is the lowest price, buy as many as you can with the Q's. Then in the next few weeks (before the next lowest price sale comes around) you will not only have the item on hand, you will not pay higher prices than you have to.

To grow your Q collection, find out what newspapers carry your area's Q inserts and buy multiples. Some people also ask friends and family for their leftover Qs (like me - my mom and dad both give me their inserts and my dad brings more home from work). You can also trade with others to get more of the Q's you are interested in.

Another last point is to consider what items you are brand specific on and what items you may be willing to try something new. We are brand specific on some items and I make it clear to family that these items will only be purchased when on sale and with Q. Sounds a little harsh, but I personally have troubles spending the money now that I know what I can really pay for it - to me it is wasting money and it is! I just buy alot when the price is right so by the time I need/want it again it is on sale again.

HTH!
Jen

cowlady,

within the segment of the show that stephanie was featured on, she was shopping at Kroger. i can recognize that store anywhere! hehe.... well, it looked like Kroger lol-- Kroger does double coupons and she combined her coupons with the store flyer sales and maximized her savings. i suggest finding a grocery store that doubles coupons (Q's).

hth

Hi, I'm a newbie here after watching the Oprah show yesterday. I must admit I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all but am definitely going to give coupons a try. I can't wait to spend some time exploring this forum.
