One of the best suggestions I've ever received for saving money is to only use coupons on sale items. I've gotten free and close to free items this way. I used a coupon for $5.00 off Febreeze scented oil starter kit that was on sale for $6.99 so I got it for $1.99. I used a coupon for $1.00 off 2 packages bic pens that were on sale for 2 for $1.00 so I got 2 packages for .07 cents. Great advice. I think I read it on the coupon Mom site but I'm not sure.

Yes, try to reserve your coupons for BOGO's and other great sale deals. And when you do track down a good one-make a killing-use every coupon you've got on that particular item and stockpile till the cows come home

Recently I watched Walgreen's put their very expensive Dove shampoo hair care products on a BOGO. HELLO!!
I was armed with 8 $2.00 coupon's. I walked away paying 50 cents for each one. How cool is that? I won't buy these items any more unless I can get them for 50 cents or less.

After two months of CouponMom shopping, I've adopted a new mantra: "Fifty percent; away it went!"
Sounds nutty, but hey, that's me. What I mean by my mantra is that, if I can purchase something for at least 50% off, then I'm taking it home with me. Otherwise, I don't buy it.

The "Grocery Deals by State" pages calculate the percentage saved on each of the items listed by store. Of course, if something is on my grocery list that I MUST have, I'll buy it. Otherwise, it must meet--at minimum--my 50% savings rule, or it can stay on the store shelf. The majority of the time, I'll find that, if I buy--say, spaghetti sauce--at 87% off, and stock up by purchasing three or four, then I won't need to buy it again, until I find it at least 50% off, again. Make sense?

By shopping this way, and by stacking coupons and using Register Rewards (at Walgreen's) and CVS bucks, I've whittled my grocery bill to a fraction of what it used to be. Yep--by more than fifty percent! That old grocery bill? Away it went!

I know what you mean. If I don't save enough I am really upset & then I must regroup. Usually I can spend $40 and save $60 to $80. If I come out spending $40 and saving $40 I am not doing my happy dance.

We have Frys in AZ but the brand is Kroger - is this the same?

Yes, it is called 'Fry's' in AZ (the state I live in) and Kroger in the 'back-east' area's. That is why we can buy Fry's brand and Kroger Brand name products.
