I used my CVS card when I signed up for the coupons which means you have to purchase the items at CVS (or which ever one you signed up on). You can still pay cash at the register when you purchase the products. For adding your credit card. I added my debit card so that when I purchase gas at Exxon I earn .01 per gallon of gas or when I go to certain resturants I may earn 2% to my account for my son. You dont have to add a cc that is to earn money for college. To get the e coupons all you have to do is give them your store card number ie cvs, kroger, etc. Or you can just get a upromise credit card.

I have been doing the for three years, havent earned much money for college but every little helps.

Any questions just PM.

Lynne
It was not clear that I could it this way on the website. Thank you for clarifying it. I'll scope it out again.

BTW - When I mentioned Credit Card it was in reference to my Visa Debit Card which I use for most everything. Sadly it falls victim to anyplace that CC numbers are compromised.

I've gotten all my cards signed up for the deal.

Some of the stores we shop require the card used to make purchases be signed up too. I'm still leery of this.

Does that sound right?

I'm with you though. I am not convinced it's a good idea to register your credit card, however I wonder if one of those "prepaid" credit cards would work. You could load one with say $25 and register it...???

I think this is a GREAT idea! The prepaid debit cards are visa/mc like a debit card linked to checking. Make sure it's re-loadable (I believe green dot is)

I've been considering buying debit/GC cards when premiums are offered and using those for my budget every month anyway... I guess this is just one more incentive for me to do that!

I like the idea of doing this. We rely heavily on building points on amex to buy airline, show, and concert tickets with the points from our spending.

Default upromise

I signed up for Upromise but I don't see how to use the coupons? They don't print out like regular coupons and I don't shop with a credit card so how does it work? I know my regular grocery store does not have a card they have a monopoly on everything and are so expensive. Any tips would be great. thanks missy

The Upromise eCoupons aren't regular coupons. You don't get $.75 off the item. The eCoupon identifies how much money will be contributed to your college savings account when you purchase that item.

Example: Lysol Wipes eCoupon = $1.00. When you buy these at a recognized store (in my area, Piggly Wiggly, Copps, CVS, etc), and I scan my club saver card, I will get $1.00 contributed to my daughters' college savings.

If your store participates with this program, but doesn't have a club saver card (ex in my area - Festival Foods), you go to the service desk and ask for the Upromise card. When you check out, the cashier scans that card, and it triggers the eCoupon amount to be contributed to the college savings.

To see which stores in your area are participating, enter your zip code in the search field. It will tell you where you can earn the eCoupons.

I have been using these since they came out, you don't get the cents off on your bill, but your upromise account will be credited......I have been a member of upromise since 2002 and have almost 700.00 for my 4 girls......keep in mind it won't show up on your upromise account as used for about 5-6 weeks. that is the average since I started in October......it is a wonderful concept and you can use the manufacturer q's and shortcuts.com and p & g esaver all at once as long as it doesn't go over the amount of the item you are purchasing.....(found that out at Kroger.....the shortcuts and p and g esaver are taken off first, then the man. q's) just fyi!!!!

I have a lot of questions about this also since many of the stores are located on the east coast or eastern states. And also I have no kids in the household anymore to warrant a college savings plan and such.

I'm overwhelmed at how many stores have affiliations with uPromise and the spectrum of shopping it covers.

Bed Bath & Beyond
Kmart
Target
Walmart
Macy's
Nordstrom
Barnes and Noble
Borders

I am using my account for a rainy day. The money can be cashed out without going directly to education expenses. Check it out.

Which state do you live Shadow?
