How secure are the credit cards linked to the upromise account?

I am in the midst of another debacle of a credit card account being closed and new cards issued after card data was stolen. This seems to be happening annually.

Other than signing up for another credit card, which I dread, what are other options to limit the risk involved?

Ithought about doing this also but have reconsidered. If I understand it correctly, you register your credit card information with them so that each time you use the credit card it will link with upromise. In all actuality, it's one more place that you are putting your information out there. I don't mind giving out my address and e-mail account but when it requires a credit card number or ss # I am very skeptical. Just my view.

The way I understood it is you register your member cards to the store, ie: Albertson's preferred, Kroger, etc.

Then if you want to withdraw the savings you would register your Credit Card and they would electronically credit your card. OR you can have them send you a paper check.

Does that sound right?

I'm with you though. I am not convinced it's a good idea to register your credit card, however I wonder if one of those "prepaid" credit cards would work. You could load one with say $25 and register it...???

Default The way It works

When you sign up you have several options. You can just link your grocery cards, Harris Teeter, CVS and so on. Ex. When you go to CVS and purchase something that is a upromise product you earn money for college for a child. You can pay cash at the register when you buy the product but you make sure they scan you card. For the coupons you just give them your store card number. I used my CVS card when I signed up for the coupons which means you have to purchase the items at CVS (or which ever one you signed up on). You can still pay cash at the register when you purchase the products. For adding your credit card. I added my debit card so that when I purchase gas at Exxon I earn .01 per gallon of gas or when I go to certain resturants I may earn 2% to my account for my son. You dont have to add a cc that is to earn money for college. To get the e coupons all you have to do is give them your store card number ie cvs, kroger, etc. Or you can just get a upromise credit card.

I have been doing the for three years, havent earned much money for college but every little helps.

Any questions just PM.

Lynne
