I know exactly just how she felt!! I am the coordinator of my church's pantry and I get excited over all sorts of things, not just the food being donated.
Ever praise God for peanut butter? I have! If we are low, down to almost nothing, and a donation of p.b. comes in, oh, yeah, I thank God.
I don't always know who how the donator is, but sometimes I get to hug one's neck. Here recently, we were way down on corn and green beans. With pantry funds, I had been to the store to get somethings and was able to get some corn and green beans. An elderly couple (church members) came by the church office, and when I just happened to be there, and said they had 7 flats (those cardboard things canned goods are found in) of veggies. Even though the pantry is in another bldg., I gladly stopped what I was doing, drove around to the bldg. and got the cart. The gentleman and myself loaded up the flats... and oh, I was so glad to see more corn and green beans! I thanked them and gave them each a hug.
When you drop donations at any food pantry, I hope you can take the excitement!! Us pantry coordinators, and I am sure any others involved, can get really, really excited over donations.
