I went on Saturday and had 4 coupons for $1.00 each left for the Reach floss and they had 4 left @ 99 cents each on the racks. I was surprised since this was the last day of the sale.
Since it was only 4 items and I had 4 coupons, I didn't think it would be an issue and I would have to pay for is the tax.
I get to the register and the machine beeps. The cashier hands them back to me and says matter-of-factly "you cannot use the coupons because that will make them free". I said I would pay the tax and he said "we don't do that at this store...if the machine beeps, we don't accept the coupon".
The cashier next to him agreed and noted that they expired in May (the coupons expire NEXT May...2010!!!).
I told him to manually over-ride the price to $1.00 and the coupons will work.
He said he cannot do that so I asked to see the manager.
He came over and said exactly what the two cashiers said.
I asked him if he could please TRY it to see if it worked.
He said he had never heard of changing a price before and I said it is in their coupon guidelines.
He tried and guess what? It worked!!!
It came out to 36 cents for the tax and I could tell that they did not like me.
Did I care? NOOOOO!
