Actually, just about an hour ago I encountered a similar issue.

I bought 4 pringles with the 2 pringles coupons (regular kind and light kind).
So...

2 regular pringles- $1 coupon= $1
2 lite pringles- $1 coupon= $1

First I ran into a problem because they said that the coupon was for $1 and the pringles ran up at $0.99. But I asked them to change the price of the item which the manager did hesitantly.

I wanted to pay with:
$1 RR and another
$1 RR

But the computer wasn't accepting it. So this time the manager tells me that I have more coupons than I do products. I say that I don't. 4 pringles and 4 coupons. He did his little "manager magic" and then said afterwards "next time I can't adjust the price of the item so you can use the coupon." I politely said "next time I will be returning to my usual Walgreens."
