Default Customize your Forum Experience

Thought I would share a few features that some may not know exist.
( In case you're new to a forum... forum is the website, thread is the conversation and a post is the comment in the thread)

At the top of the forum you will see a blue taskbar, toward the far right you will see "Quick Links".
If you click on this you can select from the drop down box "Edit Options"

In here you can set many preferences, but here's a few hints that I use:

1) Ever wonder why some people have green lights and some have a grey circle next to their name ? Under the Login/ Privacy options you can select to put yourself in invisible mode. Then you will never appear "green" to others (basically they won't know if you're online or not) and you will see your light turn to red if you are currently invisible and posting.
Why use this? Reasons may vary, I use it in another forum and it came in handy there.

2) Under "Thread Display Options".... Here you can increase the number of posts you can read on a page in a thread and have them sort newest to oldest or vice versa. I also choose to deselect show signatures so the threads are "cleaner" to me and saves time uploading a page if your internet service runs slow.

3) While you are on the page where you edit your options, you can also access on the blue control panel (the sidebar on the left side of screen) the option for "Edit Ingore List"
If for any reason there is any user's comments that you just don't care to read, you can add them here. Simply click on the link (after you've saved any changes you made to this section)
Type in the name of the user and click on Okay.
You can change this at anytime.
This will minimize any comments/ posts they make, but you will still have the option to read their post in a thread if you choose.

4) And to echo the sticky posted by Litsa, if you have nothing nice to say, please don't say anything at all. It will be nice if we can keep this forum a happy, inviting, money saving resource...

Hopefully you will find even one of these tips useful and make your experience in the forum more personal.
Again, don't be afraid to explore the functions available to you.
